Satahanka IX, arranged by the Guides and Scouts of Finland, is the ninth international sea scout camp held in Finland. It will take place in Bomarsund on the Åland islands, between the 1st and the 8th of August 1998. The camp will accommodate about 1.500 participants, of which 300 come from abroad.
Satahanka-camps have always been maritime-oriented. Also Satahanka IX will offer opportunities to sail with various types of keel boats and dinghies. Many scout troops are going to come to the camp with their own boats. Because of the specific camp venue with ruins of the old fortress surrounding, the activities will include local seamanship traditions and archaeology as well. Public ceremonies that are going to be held in an old cannon tower will certainly be memorable experiences.
