The Guides and Scouts of Finland

Tech Specs
Program

At a sea scout / guide camp most of the program is sea-related, but naturally there are lots of other fun things available too. Skill training will be done in training points, of which half are maritime-oriented and the other half are not. The highlight of the camp can be eg. a sailing trip with traditional S/Y Albanus or an archeological found made by you at the ruins of the Bomarsund fortress.

According to the preliminary plans there will be following training points at the camp:

  • Tall ships
  • Traditional ships
  • Dinghies
  • Sea rescue
  • Communication
  • Overnight Hike
  • Archeology
  • Rope works

All training periods, except the hike and the tall ships, will last for half a day. All activities will operate twice a day, and each camp participant will do all of them. All of the programs will be provided in English aswell as Swedish and Finnish.

In addition to these trainings, there will also be other activities at the camp, eg. the common programs, such as the opening and closing ceremonies and evening entertainment by a campfire. On Sunday the 2nd of August, everybody will leave the camp for a native region trip to become familiar with life and culture in the Åland Islands. Some evenings, there will be various sport activities. There are also many clubs and cafes at the Satahanka camp: Nattens Öga (Eye of the Night) -club for leaders, rangers and rovers, VJ-club for patrol leaders and a beach cafe by the Seamen's Mission.
